LAKE ORION — Lake Orion Community Schools’ Board of Education approved continuing the district’s ThinkLink partnership agreement on Sept. 25.
The agreement’s mission is to develop programs, activities and events for all Orion Township students and their families, advocate the completion of school assignments, ensure every LOCS student has a library card, provide the best possible chance of overall academic success and more, according to LOCS documents.
The library and LOCS both have objectives in the partnership. Several of the library’s objectives are providing online research database access, organize and host the fifth grade Battle of the Books program and conduct other programs for students. Several LOCS objectives are disseminating information with faculty, students and parents about library programs, databases and online resources, adding a bus stop at the library on select dates for students attending after school programs and collecting and forwarding completed library card registration forms to the library.
The board voted 5-0 in favor of renewing the agreement. Trustee Nate Butki abstained from voting due to also being a trustee on the library’s board. Board Secretary Susan Flaherty was absent.
