The Lake Orion Police Department is searching for suspects in a garage fire determined to be a case of arson.
Police received a call shortly after midnight on Oct. 25 that a detached garage under construction at a home on Northshore Drive was on fire.
A work crew returning from a different job site spotted the flames while driving past the home.
The work crew members called 911, and one of the crewmembers woke the homeowners while the two others sprayed the garage with a garden hose to prevent the fire from spreading, according to a media release from Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh.
The Orion Township Fire Department arrived and extinguished the flames, and no other structures or vehicles were damaged, police said.
An arson investigator from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene, conducted an investigation and determined there was evidence to indicate that accelerants were used. The fire was then determined to be arson.
The Lake Orion Police Department is asking anyone who was in the area at that time, or has any information on this fire, to contact the LO Police Department at 248-693-8321. – J.N.
