While it has been treating its customers’ taste buds for about a month, Honest to Goodness Breakfast & Smoothies made it official last Wednesday.
The restaurant had its formal ribbon cutting ceremony at its site on Lapeer Road across from Kmart. So far, so good according to owner Amy Harris.
“It’s going quite well. Weekdays we’ve been struggling a little with construction,” she said. “Weekends have been a lot better. We have a lot of room to grow.”
Harris wants to stress that she, her husband Scott and their children are not outsiders.
“We live in Oxford. Our children go to Lake Orion Schools, she said. “It’s close to home. I did a long commute for 18 years and got burned out. I wanted to do something close to home and that I was passionate about. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”
Orion Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kim Urbanowski speaks from experience when praising Honest to Goodness.
“We have other places that do smoothies and that sort of thing, but it’s unique in that they really focus on great fresh, organic ingredients,” Urbanowski said. “Their staff is very kind and excited about their jobs.
“They’ve really got a good team who knows about fine dining. They bring a really unique menu with locally roasted coffee. All of their stuff is organic, fresh chopped.”
Honest to Goodness Breakfast & Smoothies is located at 1166 S. Lapeer Road, in Lake Orion.
They are open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The smoothie and raw juice bar will be open until 6:30 p.m.
