A 42-year-old Clarkston woman died at 6:58 a.m. on August 7 at Genesys Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained during a vehicle/pedestrian crash that occurred earlier that morning on Peninsula Court.
The accident occurred at approximately 12:47 a.m. when a 40-year-old Independence Township man was backing out of the garage of the residence the couple shared, striking the woman.
According to a release from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the man stated he accidentally ran the woman over. Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident according to the OCSO’s release. After police arrived the woman was transported to Genesys.
Currently, the crash remains under investigation.
