Who’s your Santa?

Dear Editor,

I see that you published a picture of me dancing with Santa during the Holly Jolly Folly. The party was wonderful, and every year Golling Buick GMC does a terrific job as the hosts of this community event, which benefits our great lighted parade.

The caption on the picture caught my attention. (I must have been good to get to dance with Santa?) Nah, that’s not it. Santa must be good! I must have had a relationship with Santa that spanned years of communicating, and caring and being a friend to him.

We all have Santa’s in our life…and Santa appears in the hearts of all the genders. A “Santa” who appears in our lives is a person who carries the spirit of giving with them wherever they go. They exude generosity and extreme concern for the good of those they come in contact with. I know many Santa’s in my own life.

So dear editor, who is your Santa? I have Maria, and John, and Lisa, and Shannon, and another Lisa, and Lance, and Linda, and Maggie and Molly…and my list is pretty long! I am so incredibly blessed to know Santa-hearted people who, while having their own lives and issues and challenges, still make time to check in with others and care and support others who may need a smidgeon of help.

I am so happy to be part of the board of directors for a new Foundation that assists other charities. Our job is to support the supporters. Sort of like Santa Helpers Helpers. It is called Glamorous Moms Foundation.

The real message of this season, I think, is very much like the picture…but with a different caption. What will happen if you dance with a Santa? (Oh yes, which comes from the word saint?) Marvelous things will occur and the Spirit of Christmas will spread all over the community, the state and the world…and good will! Keep moving – onward and upward! Good will to all!

Kind regards,

Peggy Barry Bartz
