Lake Orion’s Downtown Development Authority will kick off their yearly summer concert series on July 10 carrying through to August 28.

Every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. through July and August, the Children’s Park Gazebo will play host to local talent, free to everyone.

Last year, the concert series attracted close to 150 people on average per concert.

Tim Williams from 20 Front Street assists the series by finding the talent and handling the sound during the concerts.

Oxford Bank provides free popcorn and the Lake Orion Sunrise Rotary provides cold water to help with the summer heat.

Additionally, Cookies and Cream by Sprout Bake will be handing out punch cards with the concert schedule. Buy nine ice creams and your 10th is free.

The Lake Orion DDA will also be holding free raffles with downtown gift cards during shows. Downtown merchants will offer their support of the concerts by donating prizes each week. Anyone at the park during the concert will be eligible to win.

“The purpose of having the concert series is to encourage people to visit Downtown Lake Orion,” said DDA Director Molly LaLone. “Go to dinner, visit some shops and include music as apart of your day in Downtown.”

As always, concerts in the park are very weather-sensitive, but everyone is welcome to come out, let the little ones spend time playing at the park, bring chairs or blankets to sit and enjoy the summer family fun.

The Summer Concert Series features a number of local favorites.

The series schedule is as follows:

– July 10, Steve Taylor

– July 17, Jaime Marvin

– July 24, Whiskey Charmers

– July 31, Mary McGuire

– August 7, Acoustic Ash

– August 14, Lac La Belle

– August 21, Dragon Heart (with Reggie Love and Friends)

– August 28, Trey Simon

Supporting the concert series by sponsorship is the Lake Orion DDA, Oxford Bank, 20 Front Street, Cookies and Cream by Sprout Bake, Lake Orion Sunrise Rotary, M & B Graphics and The Lake Orion Review.
