Hope Senior Apartments is having its Fifth Annual Rummage and Bake Sale on Thursday, April 22 and Friday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sale items typically include jewelry, glassware, furniture, household items and holiday decor, which, according to Alayne Willams, Hope Senior Apartment’s Manager, residents sort and display.
Hope Senior Apartments is financed by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority as an ‘affordable housing? complex, with many of the tenants being on fixed incomes.
All of the proceeds of the sale will benefit well-deserved projects.
‘In the past, we have been able to make a lending library with the purchase of bookshelves,? said Williams.
Williams also noted that proceeds from the rummage sale helped purchase a gazebo for the courtyard, wooden benches for the front porch, a Tiffany lamp for the puzzle table and a new grease board for residential meetings.
Money has also been used to purchase flowers. Williams hopes to use this year’s sale to go towards the development of a walking garden. ‘One of the residents favorite activities are attending the flower beds,? she said.
Williams would like to thank everyone for all of the donations and all of the efforts of the residents who helped make the sale a big success.
