Risca hopes big move leaves her dancing for joy

Not many high school students have had a first month of the school-year quite like Harmony Risca.
The 15-year-old ice dancer went to her first week of classes at Lake Orion High School, before making a big career move by moving to New Jersey.
Risca, who had been searching for a partner for quite some time, has finally found a good match with Avidan Brown, and is training with Brown while living with his family.
The pair is being coached by Matthew Cates.
‘It’s been really hard for me, but she’s having a wonderful time,? said Harmony’s mother, Nadia.
According to Nadia, Harmony took first place in the Open Cha-cha at the 2007 Lake Placid Ice Dancing Championships in early August, while skating with Erik Field, from the nearby Arctic Figure Skating Club.
The pair also took fifth in the Open Viennese Waltz.
Skating with the 22-year-old Field was a valuable experience for the junior ice dancer.
‘Finishing first and having that experience definitely helped her to find a new partner,? Nadia said.
Brown, 16, and Risca are getting along well and are looking forward to sectional competition in Raleigh, NC, from Nov. 13-17.
‘She’s totally focused on her training,? Nadia said.?
