Raising Prosperity Consciousness

As 2021 comes to a close, there is talk about higher gas prices and higher prices on everything else, too.

So, what would you like our economy to be? Successful for everyone right? Great, together let’s change our prosperity consciousness!

What comes to mind when you hear the word prosperity? If you are like most people money pops up first.

Second, and since this is a faith column, you might think, yep, there goes the church lady talking about giving money to the church. LOL! (Side note: churches do have to pay expenses. This keeps them open to support both you and the community in whatever form they choose to uplift your consciousness.) But actually, we can be prosperous in more ways than just with money.

To change anything in our lives we must first look at the thoughts we hold in our consciousness. How are our thoughts around money, the economy, or how we see the energy of it in our lives affecting us? What do we hold in our consciousness that creates this for us?

Also, note that “prosperity consciousness” is different for each of us. A good check in question is to ask yourself what are my thoughts about money? Do I feel secure in how to handle it? Am I comfortable spending, saving, donating, sharing or gifting it? Do I feel like I could ever have enough money or feel like I will never have enough? Your thoughts on these questions matter because they reflect what is in your consciousness about money.

Unity teaches us the thoughts we hold in our mind and the energy we put into them create our reality. If we hold thoughts like: I can’t afford to, I have no money, or money is the root of all evil, well, those are lacking thoughts. Those put an energy around you that keeps money from you.

The worst thing to say is; I am broke. Be especially careful with putting that one in your mind because the last thing you want is to have the universe align and you to break something. Remember our words are important – our conscious minds are always listening!

Have you ever seen Meadowbrook Theatre’s seasonal performance of, A Christmas Carol? I love to watch Scrooge in his office counting his money and making sure every cent is there. Being a bookkeeper for 40 years, I can relate. Bookkeepers are always watching the bottom line and have a keen sense for when something is going a little in the wrong direction.

Over the years, though, I have learned to watch my thoughts on money. Now it’s only an energy which comes in coins, bills, on invoices, credit or debit cards and can be transferred online easily. You get it here, you pay it there and save some for a rainy day too!

When holding $20, $50, $100 dollar bills in your hand, you can feel like you have money. But the real value of any of those bills is only what your conscious mind feels what it is or isn’t.

Charles Fillmore wrote: Consciousness – The sense of awareness, of knowing. The knowledge or realization of any idea, object, or condition. It includes all that man is aware of—spirit, soul, and body. Prosperity – The consciousness of God as the abundant, everywhere present resource. In demonstrating prosperity, you should praise and give thanks for every little evidence of financial improvement. God is your prosperity. Stamp this thought daily on your mind and you will reap financial success.

So, if life is what we bring to it, we might want to be sure to bring some really good conscious thinking into it.

To improve our prosperity consciousness, it’s best to have positive feelings about money. Feelings of security, ease and comfortability. When we put a positive focus behind our words, we change the energy. Know our economy will change when we change our thinking.

At Unity, we know than in giving to help others live better lives increases our own prosperity. Being a tithing church, we give monthly to organizations that have the same vision as we do.

As the year ends, donate your talents, time or treasures to one of the many non-profits that support people in our community, such as Remnant Ministries located at the Community of Christ Church in downtown Lake Orion. In that location you will easily find God at work providing prosperity consciousness.

Luke 6:38 – “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full-pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” (NLT)

May the Lord Bless you and keep you, may he lift up his countenance (awareness, favor, support) upon you and give you peace and prosperity! Amen.

Blessings,
