Tools stolen from job site
Deputies responded to the 3900 block of Maybee Road at 1:28 p.m. Nov. 7 after a 31-year-old contractor from Oxford reported several tools were stolen from a job site.

The victim reported he arrived at the site at 12:30 p.m. that day and noticed approximately $700 worth of tools stolen.

Deputies inspected the scene and discovered the door had been pried open and the door jamb was broken.

The contractor reported there was no damage prior to leaving the job on Nov.5. Detectives are investigating.

Thieves target steering wheels in Orion Twp.
An Orion Township woman on the 3300 block of Aspen Trail called authorities 5:56 a.m. on Nov. 8 to report that she went to her vehicle and discovered a broken window and that her steering wheel was missing.

Deputies then went to Thornwood Trail and Apple Wood at 7:18 a.m. Nov. 8 after a 42-year-old man reported he went to his vehicle and discovered a broken window and his steering wheel was missing.

Deputies processed both scenes for evidence and turned all information over to the Oakland County Auto Theft Unit.

Polly Ann Trail bridge railing damaged, detectives investigate
Detectives are investigating approximately $10,000 or more worth of damage to a bridge railing on the Polly Ann Trail.

Deputies went to the trail on Clarkston Road between Joslyn and Lapeer roads to inspect the damage to the bridge safety rail at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 9.

The trail manager reported the bridge was damaged sometime between 11 a.m. Nov 7 and 9:30 a.m. Nov. 8th,
Approximately 100 feet of railing on the north side of the bridge was damaged and needs to be replaced.
Damage is estimated to be at least $10,000 to repair.

Detectives are investigating. Anyone with information should contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

No jacket required, but man steals suit coat anyway
A suspect who tried to steal a shopping cart of items at a local store ditched the cart but left with a new suit coat.

Deputies went to Kohl’s, 3073 S. Baldwin Rd., at 6:50 p.m. Nov. 9 for a retail fraud report and were informed by an employee that on Nov. 8 a suspect entered the store, got a cart and started walking through the store selecting various items, placing the items in the cart.

The suspect selected a suit jacket and put it on. At this point the suspect started toward the exit when an employee spotted him.

The suspect left the items in the cart and proceeded to exit the store, making no attempt to pay for the jacket. All information was turned over to detectives.

Woman arrested for assaulting boyfriend
A woman went to jail and is facing domestic assault charges after allegedly hitting her boyfriend on Nov. 11.

Deputies went to the 500 block of Goldengate Avenue at 5:38 p.m. after the victim, a 31-year-old Pontiac man, said that his girlfriend, a 27-year-old Pontiac woman, had slapped him in the face.

After reviewing the information and injuries, the woman was transported to the Oakland County Jail.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a Domestic Violence complaint. The woman was arraigned on the charge and given a $5,000 bond with 10 percent surety.

Suspect assaults ex-girlfriend after dinner, hits her vehicle
Detectives are looking for a suspect who allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, stole her phone and then hit her car before fleeing.

A 53-year-old Rochester woman went to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Orion Township substation at 1:48 p.m. Nov. 11 to report a domestic assault.

The woman said she was at dinner with an ex-boyfriend, a 58-year-old Columbiaville man, when the victim told deputies that she said something the man did not like so he grabbed her cell phone and exited the restaurant.

The woman paid the dinner bill and went to her vehicle where her ex-boyfriend was waiting. He threw her phone at her then pushed her to the ground.

When the victim attempted to leave, the suspect intentionally hit her vehicle.

Deputies were not able to locate the suspect. All information was turned over to detectives.

Orion Twp. man facing charges for assaulting wife, grabbing her by the throat
An Orion Township man who allegedly assaulted his wife because she wanted to go out with friends was arrested and is facing charges for grabbing her around the throat.

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home on the 2900 block of Saturn Drive at 3:44 a.m. Nov. 13 for a Domestic Assault report, a sheriff’s office incident report stated.

The victim, a 36-year-old Orion Township woman, said her 38-year-old husband became upset when she wanted to go out with friends and started screaming at her and threatened to cause damage to her vehicle if she did not return home with him.

The victim decided to return home, but when they arrived, the man continued to yell and threaten her. He then reportedly “told her to pack her things and leave,” according to the incident report.
The husband continued to follow his wife through the house yelling at her then grabbed her phone and broke it.

The victim said she fled to the basement to get away from her husband. He followed her and grabbed her around the throat, the report stated. The woman managed to get away and leave the residence until the deputies arrived.

Based on statements made by both parties, and observations of the deputies, the man was arrested and taken to the Oakland County Jail.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a complaint for Domestic Violence and Assault with intent to do great Bodily Harm Less than Murder (Strangulation), the sheriff’s office said.
