Synopsis, Regular Meeting, Monday, November 21, 2016
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Invocation: Fr. Mike Verschaeve, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. All rose for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Held Public Hearing: Community Development Block Grant 2017 Annual Application.
Reflected on the contributions of Bill Haydel, former Township Supervisor, who died November 1, 2016.
Recognized Harley Joe Bucham as Citizen of the Month.
Heard presentation from the Orion Area Youth Assistance.
Approved the payment of bills in the amount of $1,848,438.17, payrolls in the amount of $260,439.01, for a total distribution of funds in the amount of $2,108,877.18.
Approved the agenda, as revised. Approved the consent agenda, as presented.
Approved the Minutes, Regular Meeting, Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
Received and filed notice, scheduling joint public hearing for PC-2016-35, Laurels of Lake Orion PUD on December 21, 2016.
Gratefully accepted donation of a vehicle from Guy Higgins to be used in vehicle extraction training, and authorized the Fire Chief to send the donor a letter of appreciation.
Approved the solicitation request from the Orion Township Firefighters for the annual benefit Goodfellow Newspaper sales to be conducted at various locations within the Township.
Reappointed John Steimel and Donni Steele as Township Board representatives to the Orion Community Cable Communications Commission, terms expiring 11/20/2018.
Authorized the Supervisor to sign the 2017-2018 Law Enforcement contract with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
Waived all sign permit fees for the Orion Lighted Parade’s temporary sign permit.
Received and filed the Notice of Solicitation from Clean Water Action.
Authorized the allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds per the recommendation of the CDBG committee, as presented.
Awarded bid for the Clarkston Road Safety Path 1a and Watermain Extension to Superior Excavating, at a total cost not to exceed $2,311,648.40.
Authorized additional language in the standard easement agreement for Centre Village 1 Water Main Easement.
Adopted new job description for Plans Examiner position.
Authorized the hiring of Jeffrey Schultz for the Building Inspector position, contingent upon passing all pre-employment requirements.
Authorized promoting Kirk Larson to the Plans Examiner position.
Held closed executive session to discuss pending litigation.
Meeting adjourned at 8:56 p.m.
