Orion Twp. library appoints Interim Director

Library Board accepts the resignation of Karen Knox

The Orion Township Public Library announced that their Board of Trustees has voted to accept the resignation of Karen Knox as Library Director, effective August 7. Knox has been the Library Director for the past 9.5 years.

“It has been such an honor to work with the Orion Township Public Library Board and staff providing library services to the community,” said Knox. “I will be moving out of Lake Orion in August to start my next chapter in St. Charles County, Missouri.”

“Karen has been instrumental in keeping the library up to date on technology and all library services, always making sure the community has the latest resources and services to best meet their needs,” said MaryAnne Thorndycraft, Library Board president. “Even though we wish Karen all the best, we will miss her greatly.”

The Library Board has started working with a search firm to find a new Library Director. In the meantime, they have appointed Kathleen Kwiatkowski as the Interim Director. Kwiatkowski has worked for the Orion Township Public Library for 9 years and is currently the Head of Adult Services. Kwiatkowski can be reached at kkwiatkowski@orionlibrary.org

The Orion Township Public Library is located at 825 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion, MI 48362 and is open Monday through Thursday 9:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays in the summer.
