Multiple drunk drivers issued 8th offenses

On September 17, 2016 about 8:30 p.m., a Lake Orion Police Officer on patrol observed a male wearing a backpack on what appeared to be a motorized bicycle exiting a gas station/convenience store parking lot onto S. Broadway M-24.
There were no headlights on the motorized bicycle, which pulled out in front of another southbound vehicle, almost being struck.
Once the motorized bicycle was stopped, the officer asked the man for his driver’s license and was told he does not have one due to past drunk driving convictions.
The driver exhibited signs of intoxication, which led the officer to conduct sobriety tests that indicated he was intoxicated.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Lake Orion Police Department where testing indicated his blood alcohol was at .18 BAC.
The driver was identified as Gary Michael Osborn, age 57, of Orion Township, MI. Osborn has seven previous convictions for drunk driving and has 12 open driver’s license suspensions at the time of his arrest; he has not possessed a valid driver’s license since 1980.
The arresting officer discovered Osborn’s vehicle is a Huffy bicycle with an added engine and fuel tank attached.
On September 19, Osborn was arraigned at the 52/3 District Court before Magistrate Marie Soma on Operating While Intoxicated and Operating with a Suspended or Revoked License.
Osborn was placed on $25,000 cash bond and alcohol tether if able to make bond. Osborn was returned to the Oakland County Jail.
Osborn is due back in 52/3 District Court for a probable cause conference on 9-29-2016 at 8:30 a.m.
On September 16, 2016 about 11:30 p.m., Lake Orion Police were dispatched to the area of S. Broadway and M-24 near Heights Rd for a northbound white pickup truck reportedly driven by a possible drunk driver. The vehicle was being driven erratically, and struck a curb near Atwater Street.
The officer stopped the vehicle and immediately detected signs of intoxication in the driver, who stated he does not have a driver’s license.
The driver failed roadside sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for Operating While Intoxicated.
The driver was identified as Douglas George Bowman, age 54, of Orion Township, MI. Bowman was lodged at the Oakland County Jail after a search warrant for blood was obtained and executed.
Records indicated that Bowman has seven previous convictions for drunk driving, and had 31 open driver license suspensions at the time of his arrest, with numerous previous convictions for driving on a suspended license.
On September 19, Bowman was arraigned at 52/3 District Court before Magistrate Marie Soma on Operating While Intoxicated and Operating with a Suspended of Revoked License.
Bond for Bowman was set at $25,000 and alcohol tether if able to make bond. Bowman was returned to the Oakland County Jail.
Bowman is due back in 52/3 District Court for a probable cause hearing on 9-27-2016 at 10:00 a.m.
