Marguerite Hessler, 101, of Lake Orion

Marguerite Mae Hessler of Lake Orion passed away on July 6, 2022. She was 101 years old.
Marguerite was the devoted wife of the late John N. Hessler for 70 years; loving mother of Bonnie (Raymond) Reynolds, John L. Hessler, Ron (Gloria) Hessler and Konnie (Rick) Medley; and dear grandmother of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was the dear cousin of Beth Page of Alpena.
Marguerite was the daughter of Roy and Dora Dixon. She grew up in Pontiac, Michigan. She loved to skate and dance and when she became a teen she performed as a professional roller skater with her dad to bring in extra family income.
She met her husband John at age 14 and they married when she was 16. They built their house from the ground up and it was one of the first homes built in the Bunny Run Subdivision. Marguerite worked many jobs all of her life to help support her family. During World War II, she joined the war effort by working at a foundry that made parts for engines.
She loved spending time with John and theirs was a life of hunting, fishing and included being lifetime members of the Moose Lodge. They spent much of their retirement years up north in Prescott and Moran, Michigan where Marguerite found time to enjoy crocheting and their love for the outdoors and camping allowed them to create many memories camping all over Michigan and in the United States.
She will be remembered for her positive attitude, sweet and humble spirit and all the love that she gave to her family. Marguerite believed in having fun, working hard and having a lot of faith in God. She will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at a future date.
