LOHS mens cross country prepares for a strong season

This year’s team is led by returning All-State runner Andrew Nolan.

Nolan is a senior, and has earned All-State honors the past two seasons. Nolan is a very competitive, strong runner, and looks to put himself in with some of the best runners in the state again.

Nicholas Laurent is a junior, running his first year on Varsity.

Laurent ran the 800m run in track, and has now added an endurance component to his speed.

This years team has some big numbers in the Sophomore class, with 23 runners. Returning Varsity letter winners are Hong Bing Tang, Even Waters, Jacob Gleason, Adam Hafeli, Clayton Kuiper, and Andrew Jacques. Will Houvener, after a good summer of running, has put himself up on Varsity to add to the depth that this team has.

There are also 23 Freshman on this years team. Luke Peardon, Eddie Cromwell, Evan Fox, Brady Harwood, Horatios Lopez, Jacob Smith, and Nathan Yee have been able to stand out from the pack in early practices. But there is a lot there, so we look forward to seeing some of the others showing us what they can do.

Needless to say, this is a very young team, that has to see where they stack up in a very competitive league. The results of our first week of meets will give us a starting point, but we look to see some great improvement through the season, as these young, talented runner’s find there way.

Meets this week include the OAA Jamboree I, Wednesday, September 4th, at Troy High School, and Saturday, September 7th at the Averill Invitational at Kensington Metro Park. – By Stan Ford
