Lake Orion’s girls basketball team made big strides in the OAA Blue division this past week securing three big wins in the division and improving their record to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in the OAA Blue, enough to hold first place in the division.

The ladies headed to Rochester High School on Feb. 23 to take on the Falcons coming away with a 41-36 victory. Sophomores Maddie Ebbert and Kylie Heck lead the Dragons in scoring with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Later that week, the Dragons hosted the Avondale Yellowjackets adding another win to their record with a 54-30 victory. Lead scorers included Heck and senior captain Meghan Marshall who each chipped in 13 points, followed by Ebbert with nine. Senior captain Kiera Tierney along with first-year varsity player Taylor Dinda also contributed greatly to the team’s performance.

On Monday, the ladies headed to Troy Athens High School for another match-up against the Red Hawks. This time around, a win would put them at the top of the OAA Blue, where a loss would have them tied in first with Oxford.

The ladies were able to secure another win over the Black Hawks 42-36. Leading the Dragons in scoring again was Heck with 14 points, followed by Ebbert who added 11. The victory was a team effort with each Lake Orion player getting time on the court.

Earlier in the night both the junior varsity and freshman ladies both snagged wins over Athens improving their records to 7-0 and 9-0 respectively.

The Dragons host rivals Oxford High School in another OAA Blue contest and rematch for LOHS on Wednesday night in the Lake Orion field house.
