LOHS girls track team starts season with two strong meet finishes on March 18 and 23

The Lake Orion High School girls track team kicked off their season with two indoor track meets last week.
On March 18, the ladies headed to Saginaw Valley State to compete against 35 other teams where the Dragons were able to secure two 1st place victories. Madison Eaton in the 60-meter hurdles and Sarah Griffin in the pole vault.
Heather DeSamper also placed 3rd in the pole vault, and the 4×300-meter Relay team of Eaton, Alayna Tisch, Macayla Long and Randia Smith placed 6th.
On March 23 the Lady Dragons traveled to Eastern Michigan University to face 21 other teams. The Lake Orion team took 3rd place overall.
The Distance Medley Relay team consisting of Olivia Ames, Grace Winkler, Josie Arnold and Sophie Novak placed first. Eaton and Melissa Symons placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively in the 60m hurdles and Griffin and DeSamper placed 2nd and 4th, respectively, in the pole vault.
The 4x400m Relay team placed 2nd with Eaton, Arnold, Novak and Symons. Griffin also placed 7th in the long jump.
The ladies next meet will be their first official outdoor meet of the season on March 27 at Oxford High School. — M.K.
