Get ready for a weekend of summer fun in your very own Downtown Lake Orion. As the carnival rolls in, fireworks roll out, the beer tent pops up and everyone winds down.

It’s the annual Jubilee, where both adults and little ones are sure to find fun and entertainment.

Starting on Thursday at 5 p.m. and going through Sunday, Skerbeck Entertainment Group Carnival will provide games, rides, snacks and more.

Proceeds from the Jubilee will go to the Lake Orion Lions Club to support their long list of local programs.

Wristbands/Tickets

Wristbands can be purchased every day for $20. They are good per day, all day on Thursday, Friday and Sunday and noon — 5 p.m. on Saturday (then tickets only).

Wristbands can also be purchased in advance online for a $2 discount. They are available at www.lakeorionlions.org through noon on Thursday.

Individual tickets will also be available, 4 for $5 or a sheet of 50 for $50.

Beer Tent

Not only will the beer tent provide the adults with plenty of — you guessed it — beer, but there will also be live music each night with DJ Kevin Winn on Thursday, Full Tilt on Friday and Scotty Doesn’t Know on Saturday.

The beer tent will be open Thursday from 5-10 p.m., Friday 5-12 a.m. and Saturday 4-12 a.m.

Fireworks

The annual Lions Club fireworks show over Lake Orion will begin just after dunk on Saturday. The fireworks will be potsponed to Sunday if it rains on Saturday.

“We’re supposed to have good weather…the best viewing area is by the beer tent,” said Mike Pekelis, this year’s event chairman. “It’s free to everybody so the village gets packed. People bring their chairs and blankets and they go off. It’s about a 15 minute show.”

Big Wheel Race

Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Children’s Park parking lot, the Lions Club will hold the Big Wheel Race for kids ages 4-8.

Children must bring their own helmet, big wheels will be provided.

Race winners will receive a trophy and a free wristband, good for all rides from noon- 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Check-in/registration will begin an hour before the race begins.

Street Closures

Broadway Street, from Shadbolt to Front Street, and Flint Street, from Anderson Street (south of Flint Street) to Lapeer Street, will be closed from the morning of June 20 until the night of June 23.

The parking lots on Anderson Street, the lot behind Children’s Park and the shared Lake Orion Review and State Farm lot will also be closed for rides and activities.

Lions Club

The Lake Orion Lions club will again have their Project Kidsight trailer at the carnival where children six-months-old and older can receive free eye screenings.

The Lions Club also helps families in need with their annual Christmas Basket program, their continued support for Leader Dog for the Blind and many other local charitable efforts.
