Lake Orion’s girls track team dominates at Oxford Invitational

Lake Orion’s girls track team headed to Oxford on April 27 for the 57th annual Oxford Invitational.
The lady Dragons had their work cut out for them with 22 other teams competing for the win.
Lake Orion’s ladies blew every other team out of the water taking first place with 101 points. Second place went to Farmington who had just 72 points and Birmingham Seaholm took third with 63 points.
Madison Eaton won both the 100m dash and 300m hurdles, Sarah Griffin won the pole vault and Sophie Novak won the 800m run giving the Dragons four individual champions during the meet.
Also contributing to the big win were Heather DeSamper who took second place in the pole vault, Griffin with a third place finish in the long jump and the second place finish for the 4x100m relay made up of Mecayla Long, Alayna Tisch, Shantel Stanley and Natalie Keogh.
Next, the ladies take on Clarkston at home on May 1 and will head to North Farmington on May 4 for the New Balance Invite. — M.K.
