Lake Orion Track and Field defeats Rochester High School

Land top-five finishes at weekend invitationals

Lake Orion High School’s varsity men’s and women’s track teams both had dominating performances against Rochester High School last week.

Lake Orion’s men’s team defeated Rochester 98 – 30.

Stephen Brown improved his personal record in the 100m dash with a 10.99 finish. He then ran on the winning 800m relay, with Raymond Payne, Josh Trudell and Jeremy Parks. Brown also won the 200m and 400m dashes.

Nicholas Laurent doubled up with wins in the 1600m and 800m dash, along with being on the winning 1600m relay with Carson White, Will Houvener and Jacob Corless.

Luke Peardon and Xavier Nunley completed the 800m sweep.

Peardon and Houvener completed the 1600m sweep.

Josh Trudell won the 110m high hurdles and the 300m hurdles. Trudell was also on the winning 4 x 200m relay.

The 3200m relay winners were Corless, White Kuiper and Hong Bing.

Nick Eaton and Drew Knieper went 1 – 2 in the shot put. Knieper also won the discus with Jonah Fix and Eaton taking the next two places.

Caleb Jones won the long jump.

The lady Dragons beat Rochester High School 85 – 43.

Alayna Tisch and Ella Spiers went 1 – 2 in the 100m dash, then teamed up on the winning 400m relay, with Cadence Teasley and Mecayla Long.

Tisch also won the 300m hurdles.

Teasley won the 200m dash with Natalie Keogh taking 2nd.

Sophie Novak and Grace Winkler went 1 – 2 in the 400m dash, with Sophie also winning the 800m and 3200m runs.

Cate Leonhard won the 100m hurdles, along with the long jump and took 2nd in the high jump.

Lauren Dumeah, Maddie Feurig, Alexa Mathes and Ava Keogh won the 3200m relay.

New Balance Invitational

The ladies finished in 5th place out of 15 schools at the New Balance Invitational on Friday.

Tisch medaled in 3rd place in the 100m dash, was 2nd in the 300m hurdles and ran on the 4th Place 400m relay with Keogh, Long and Leonhard.

Leonhard medaled in 2nd in the 100m hurdles and led a pole vault sweep with Bella Monterosso, and Carlie Knebi.

Novak won the 1600m run and placed 3rd in the 800m run.

Lake Orion’s men’s team finished in 3rd place out of 15 schools at the New Balance Invitational on Saturday.

Brown continued his 100m dominance with a 1st place finish. Brown then ran 3rd in the 200m dash with a personal record.

The 800m relay team of Brown, Parks, Joey Thede and Raymond Payne medaled with their 2nd Place effort and season-best time.

The same group medaled in the 400m Relay, (4th and personal record). Raymond Payne snagged a personal record in the 100m dash.

Thede medaled in 2nd place in the 110m high hurdles with his best time to date, along with his relay performance.

The distance group had a personal record kind of day, with Laurent winning the 1600m run with his personal best.

Kuiper, Bing Tang, Peardon and Houvener ran their best also in the 1600m and 800m races.

Peardon, Houvener, White and Corless’ 3200m relay time was their best performance of the season and their 2nd place finish earned them medals, too.

Knieper set his personal best in the shot put and then medaled in 4th place in the discus,.

Sean Pasek received a personal record in the pole vault securing 7th Place.

Fenton 9th/10th Grade Invitational

Freshman Nick Eaton led the way for the Dragons, winning the discus with a personal best. He then took 4th place honors in the shot put.

Sophomore Eddie Cromwell was 2nd in the 1600m run, then 3rd in the 800m run.

Ian McCullum was 3rd in the pole vault.

Personal bests were set by Ben Filias in the high jump and 400m, Nolan Tipsword in the discus, Tanner Stewart in the 300m hurdles, along with Chris Brouhard in the 110m high hurdles.

Nathan Yee, Michael Drakos, and Jack Logsdon ran personal bests in the 3200m run. Yee and Ethan Tarr also had bests in the 1600m run along with Gavin Reed in the 800m run and Mauricio Silva in the 400m.

Connor Houston, Donovan Blackwell and James Patterson all had personal records in the 100m dash.

On the girls side, Sofi Sally won the 100m hurdles with a personal best, and then was 2nd in the 300m hurdles. Sally joined Alexandra Jones, Faith Rhimes and Eileene Guenther in the 4th place 800m relay while Maddie Feurig, Lauren Dumeah and Gillian Zeller in the 4th Place 1600m relay.

Bella Delong was 2nd in the shot put, and then 3rd in the discus.

Other personal bests were achieved by Lauren Dumeah and Gillian Zeller in the 800m run, Karla Seifert in the 400m dash and Eileene Guenther and Alexandra Jones in the 100m dash.
