Lake Orion senior Cate Leonhard selected to compete on Team Michigan in the Midwest Meet of Champions

Cate Leonhard, a senior on the Lake Orion High School girls track and field team, was selected to compete on Team Michigan at the Midwest Meet of Champions on June 12 at Olivet College.

Each year since 1974, the top-ranked senior track athletes are invited to compete on Team Michigan versus a all star team from Indiana and Ohio, said Adam Russell, LOHS track and field assistant coach.

Leonhard finished the 2021 season All-State in the pole vault, Oakland County champion in the long jump and team MVP, scoring 164 points in five different events.

This was the sixth consecutive year a Lake Orion High School pole vaulter finished as all state at the Indoor or Outdoor State Track Meet since 2016.

The 2020 outdoor track and field season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Leonhard will attend the University of Michigan this fall.
