The Lake Orion Community Schools Board of Education did a bit of reorganizing at their Jan. 13 regular meeting after the swearing-in of the four members elected in November, two of which have no prior experience on the board.

Danielle Bresett and Susan Flaherty were elected for their first term as trustees, while Birgit McQuiston and Scott Taylor were both re-elected. All four will serve four year terms.

The officer positions will remain the same, with Jim Weidman staying on as president, McQuiston as vice president, Jake Singer as treasurer and Steve Drakos as secretary. Taylor, Bresett and Flaherty are trustees.

The finance committee will consist of Weidman, Singer and Flaherty with Drakos as an alternate.

Flaherty, McQuiston and Taylor will make up the policy committee.

Drakos, Taylor and Weidman will remain on the superintendent evaluation committee with the plan to re-organize and swap Singer and Flaherty with Drakos and Taylor in June.

Bresett and Taylor will serve on the Lamp of Learning committee.

Singer and Bresett join McQuiston on the curriculum committee.

Weidman steps off of the board self-assessment committee, leaving it in the hands of Drakos, McQuiston and Taylor.

Rounding out the board committees is Bresett, Flaherty and Taylor on the bond committee.
