Lake Orion cross country runner sets school record, again

LOHS junior Sophie Novak won her second cross country regional championship over the weekend.

Novak, who previously held the school record, broke her own record by running the course in 17:59.9 minutes and defeating her closest competitor by 1:34.

The impressive finish qualifies Novak for the state finals for the third consecutive time.

The team overall finished in 6th place, with freshman Annika Russell, senior Marissa O’Leary, juniors Iris Meech and Alexa Mathes and senior Sofia Bohannon closing out the season by running seasonal bests. — M.K.
