George Frederick Fargher, 69

George Frederick Fargher, born March 8, 1947, was called to the Lord on Sunday May 15, 2016. George was born in La Porte, Indiana to Dr. Robert A. and Helen (Link) Fargher. He has no siblings and is survived by his wife Judith Diane (Rhodes) Fargher and several cousins, including, Carolyn Firth of Sarasota, Florida, Toni Robinson of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Alfred Link of Boston Massachusetts. George and Judy never had any children, only loving Labradors.
George moved with his parents to Bloomfield Hills in 1963 when his father became Medical Director for General Motors Truck and Bus Division in Pontiac, where George attended and graduated from Bloomfield Hills High School.
George’s lifelong fascination with all things electrical and mechanical led him to numerous jobs from Watch repair as an early teenager to TV/Appliance and musical organ repair and service. He, along with his best friend, Richard Benoit, started Suburban Organ Service and he moved on from there to being Midwest Regional Service Manager for C.G. Conn Company in Elkhart, Indiana. He moved to Lake Orion and after his marriage to Judy on June 4, 1977, he worked in Plant Engineering and Research & Development for companies serving the automotive special machine tool industry. The Farghers later moved to Historic Indian Village in Detroit and then to Remus. In 2006 they finally settled in Meredith, just south of Houghton Lake.
Memorial services for Mr. George Frederick Fargher will be held at the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church Saturday July 16, 2016 at 11 am. Interment will be in the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church Memorial Garden. Memorial contributions in memory of George are asked to be directed to the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church Music Instrument Fund or the Karmanos Cancer Institute, 1601 E Commerce Rd, Commerce Township, Michigan 48382.
