Finding healing prayer

Throughout time people have searched for wholeness in mind and body. Health and wellness are often a top priority in life, either for yourself or a loved one.

During your search, the power of prayer can successfully guide you, giving you mental strength and clarity.

This was just as true back in the 1870’s, when Unity began, as it is today. Unity was founded on the basis of prayer and healing, beginning as prayer circles and casual meetings, which people grew so fond of they created churches.

Silent Unity, a prayer center, began with a candle in the window that was always lit. If you could see that candle you knew someone was there praying. The idea was to support others so they never felt alone. For more than 130 years, the light at Silent Unity has been lit, offering prayers to all faiths around the world, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week — call 1-800-NOW-PRAY.

You can pray by yourself by going into prayer and meditation. This is a time of going into the silence in communion with God, our source energy and higher power. In this conscious connection with God that we find in the midst of prayer, we can let go of what holds us back. We become aware of what doesn’t serve us and find clarity for our next steps. We are often guided to a better direction for our lives.

We are spiritual beings having a human experience, so it is important that we take a close look at ourselves and our lives often. Do a self-check in frequently. See if you are living life in the way that is best for you. As a spiritual being, are you walking that life?

Living in the physical world, it is our job to look at our place in it and find balance and harmony within the world.

Being out of balance creates an un-centered you. When you are in that state, you know it. Things just keep going wrong. You may not understand how you feel about life or your purpose here. You look for happiness, get close, but just can’t find it. The more you try to help yourself or understand what’s happening, the worse things get.

Finding a source of balance once again can be difficult if you are alone in your search. That is definitely a time to call on Silent Unity for prayer, but you can also look us up or stop in for a service.

Why prayer? Well, I invite you to think of your body as your temple, your church. What you do with your church is between you and God. Time spent in prayer is a few minutes that you set aside from the physical world. When you pray you are letting go of what is and opening your conscious mind to what can be. It’s a sacred time spent in the silence with just you and God. No one knows your life, your truth, except you and God.

In this time of sacredness do not wonder if God knows or loves you; affirm it and I guarantee He does!

There is nothing that you can do in your lifetime that you cannot bring to God in prayer. Ask for forgiveness and know it is done. Want change in your life? Just explain to God what you would like to see different.

But try not to tell God what it is going to be because something better is always great too! Finding it hard to forgive someone? No worries, just tell God that. Let it be your intention to forgive as much as you can until there is nothing left to forgive.

What can you do when you think God doesn’t answer your prayers?

Go back to the thought of a self-check in. Ask yourself did God bring it and you not see it? Were you too busy looking for the way you thought God should provide the answer? Do you have your thoughts locked into what the answer will look like or be?

Set no limits on what God can do. You might be expecting a boat but God sends you a camper! Be open, if an underlying thought is a closer relationship with your family the camper might be what brings you more happiness.

During this pandemic you may have prayed that Covid-19 goes away. It didn’t, but a vaccine was developed that can help take it away and may help with other viruses in the future.

Keep your prayers open and positive. If you are looking for a new home, hobby or job, pray as if it is already showing up in your life. Visualize in your prayer what it looks like, see yourself happy with the end result however it shows up.

While you wait be grateful for all that you have now, before your prayer is answered. Be sure to see your medical doctor for your physical body and remember to do healing prayers on your spiritual self.

Romans 8:11 tells us: “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit which dwells in you”.

Many blessings,
