Dragons win series against Stoney Creek

ORION TWP. — Lake Orion came into last week with a series against the Stoney Creek Cougars and a double-header against Dakota on the calendar, but once again Mother Nature did not like those plans.
Game two of the Stoney Creek series got pushed back a day due to weather and the double-header against Dakota was canceled due to weather and field conditions. The make up day for those games is May 30.
Game one of three between the Dragons and Cougars was a loss at home for Lake Orion. Stoney Creek struck first in the second inning off an Evan Woodward double, scoring Ben Korson.
The Dragons would finally answer in the sixth inning. Travis Acker hit a ground ball, scoring Joey Bruno.
The game would ultimately go into extra innings, where Stoney Creek scored two runs in the eighth.
The Dragons could not answer in their half of the frame and ended up losing 3-1.
Lake Orion was looking for revenge in game two at home and would go on to win in yet another low-scoring affair.
The Dragons would strike first, scoring two runs in the third inning.
Connor McCartan scored on a passed ball, and in the same at-bat Brandon Nepjuk scored Casey Robertson on a single to left field.
Lake Orion would add one more run to their total in the fourth on a double from Robertson that would score McCartan.
Stoney Creek made a valiant comeback effort in the sixth frame scoring two runs, but the Dragons would hang on to win 3-2.
Lake Orion hit the road for game three of this series. The offense got going in the first inning when the Dragons scored two runs.
They continued their offensive dominance in the second inning, scoring six runs. McCartan, Robertson, Nepjuk, and Carson Womack all had RBI’s.
The Cougars scored their two runs in the second inning, but that is all the offense they would muster.
Lake Orion added three more runs in the third inning and two in the sixth to blow-out Stoney Creek 13-2.
Lake Orion has improved to 11 wins and three losses on the year and have a three-game series against Oxford plus a double-header at Northville on the schedule this week.
