Dragon tennis team starts the season off with a 6-2 win over Avondale

On Friday, the Lake Orion High School Boys’ Varsity Tennis team opened the 2021 season with a 6-2 victory over the Avondale High School Yellow Jackets.

Senior Thomas Fluent led the Dragons with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in No. 1 singles, and junior Peter Husted also won 6-2, 6-0 in No. 4 singles.

The Dragons swept all of the doubles matches, with seniors Nate Fox and Blake Skibicki winning 7-5, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles, senior Ruben DeLosRios and junior Jake Beach winning 6-1, 6-2 in No. 2 doubles, seniors Bryce Stanfield and Kellen Foley winning 6-1, 6-0 in No. 3 doubles, junior Daniel Pavelich and sophomore Michael Pokorny winning 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 doubles and sophomore Anthony Roncone and freshman Connor Fox winning 8-1 in No. 5 doubles.

The Dragons will host the Northville High School Mustangs on the newly re-surfaced courts at Lake Orion High School at 4 p.m. on Thursday before traveling to Flushing High School on Friday for their first tournament of the season.
