Clarkston history with Underground Railroad

Underground Railroad historian Rochelle E. Danquah will discuss local contributions to the Underground Railroad movement at a free event sponsored by the Clarkston Community Historical Society, 7 p.m. Feb. 22, Independence Township Library community room, 6495 Clarkston Road.
Danquah, vice-chair of the Michigan Freedom Trail Commission and an adjunct professor at Wayne County Community College will present ‘Northward Bound: Oakland County’s Role in the Abolitionist and Underground Railroad Movement in Michigan.?
The presentation will include Maj. John Knox of Clarkston, who served in the Civil War and is believed to have supported abolitionists.
