Locally owned, Broadway Embroidery held the grand opening of their storefront in downtown Lake Orion last Saturday.

Broadway Embroidery is sure to offer patrons of downtown Lake Orion a unique way to personalize items for themselves or loved ones.

After being in business for a year now, owners Sally Medina and Lee Mannion are making the move to bring their company out of their homes and into a storefront.

“We’ve lived here for about three years now and we really wanted to feel a part of the community,” said Medina. “I think that being here in a storefront…we have people coming in and we have people wanting to do Grandma Lake Orion High School shirts and gifts for babies…it’s important for us to get to know people in the community and feel more of a community feel.”

The two combined have experience that has helped make the transition possible.

“My sister used to work in a factory setting for embroidery for over 20 years and I’ve done it more so as a hobby, so it’s fun to be able to make it out living now,” said Medina.

The store itself offers uniforms, a wide array of unique gifts, Christmas stockings, Easter baskets, blankets, etc.

“The majority of what we’re going to be doing is probably shirts and blankets, we have baby blankets in store,” said Medina. “People can bring things that they already have in. So, if they have a backpack for their kid for school we can do things like that. We have a couple different varieties of children’s bath towels, handkerchiefs, anything you want to have a personalized touch, you can bring in.”

Broadway Embroidery is located at 16 N. Broadway St. and, as of now, the store is set to be open Sunday – Tuesday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday – Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Hours are subject to change.
