LO softball wins Athens Tourney

The Lake Orion varsity softball team defeated Notre Dame Prep, 4-1, in the final game to win the Troy Athens Softball Tournament over the weekend.
The team started out the week against Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes on May 17, winning both games of the doubleheader, 10-0 and 10-2. Robin Roe was the Dragons? winning pitcher.
Nichole Woityra went 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Kelsey Stout had a two-run double. Lauren LaPine went 2-for-4, with one RBI, in the first game.
In the second, LaPine stole four bases and was 4-for-5 with two runs. Layne Schmedley was 2-for-3 with two RBI for the team.
The Dragons lost to Troy, 2-0, on May 18, and played Clarkston on May 20, winning two games, 10-0 and 7-1.
Against the Wolves, Eileen Frezza went 3-for-3, while Kristin Larsen, Stout and Sasha Perryman had two hits each.
In the second game, LaPine went 2-for-4 and Larsen and Bristel Brummit each went 2-for-4 with two RBI a piece.
On May 21, Lake Orion defeated Utica Eisenhower (2-0) and Utica (1-0) to face Notre Dame Prep in the final game of the Athens Tournament.
Against Notre Dame, Roe pitched her 20th win of the year, while Woityra and Amber Agro had two hits each.
The Dragons have a 28-3 record in OAA I.
