Voting Yes on the proposed Lake Orion school bond is logical for several reasons

Dear Editor:

Here is what I know to be true:

Lake Orion Community Schools is an outstanding school district.

It is our responsibility to support our amazing school district.

Our community has not passed a bond since 2002.

The needs from two failed bonds (in 2011 and 2013) have not gone away.

The board and administration have done their due diligence to: reduce debt, restructure the district, repurpose and sell assets.

The Sinking Fund is a brilliant, but limited, tool for the district to use for urgent repairs and improvements.

The much needed 2018 Lake Orion Community Schools Bond Proposal will: address the needs of the (community owned) school buildings; upgrade a very outdated technology infrastructure; improve student achievement with updated technology and science labs; keep our staff and students safer by improving security systems and entrances; protect and even improve our property values; a zero percent tax increase by extending our bonds!

Voting YES is logical!

Please join me in voting “Yes” on the Lake Orion Community Schools Bond Proposal on Nov. 6.
