Orion Twp. man in critical condition after being driven over by girlfriend’s car

An Orion Township man is in critical condition after his girlfriend ran him over with her vehicle Wednesday night during a domestic dispute situation.

The incident happened on the 500 block of Mayer Court about 8:54 p.m. Aug. 22, according to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office incident report from Undersheriff Mike McCabe’s office.

Deputies and the Orion Twp. Fire Department responded to the area after “several neighbors had called 911 to report a disturbance between a man and a woman at the residence,” the report stated.

Witnesses directed deputies to the side of the home where they saw a red Dodge Dart resting on top of the man, who was lying beneath the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Firefighters used a jack to free the man, 28, and then began life-saving measures to save him, the report said.

The man was transported to McLaren – Oakland Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Sheriff’s office detectives and the Forensic Science Laboratory were called to the scene to investigate.

Investigators learned that the man, who is listed as the suspect in the incident, and his girlfriend, a 26-year-old woman from Clarkston, became embroiled in a domestic dispute in which the man allegedly assaulted the woman.

The woman then got into her car and attempted to leave when the man jumped on the hood of the Dodge Dart. The woman backed the car into a tree, and the man fell to the ground.

The woman then began to pull the vehicle forward, running over the man, but immediately stopped when she realized her boyfriend was trapped underneath the car, according to the incident report.

Deputies transported the woman to St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital in the city of Pontiac for medical treatment for injuries she sustained during the physical altercation with her boyfriend.  She is listed in stable condition and has since been released from the hospital.

Sheriff’s office detectives are continuing with the investigation. – J.N.

  1. I have felt that this article was extremely biased since I first read it. How can you refer to him as the suspect when only one of the two people involved in the dispute were able to give a statement. How do you know she didn’t assault him first if the claims he assaulted her are founded? Are you that thorough that you could tell by his injuries which were from the car and which may have been sustained prior to? And just the same, how is it clear which injuries she sustained were from prior to hitting the tree instead of FROM it ( I would expect a pretty good blow to the face on the steering wheel from an impact like that). It seems people are pretty quick to asume there was only one person at fault here, and don’t seem to even take into consideration that she may have been just as much involved with an altercation as him. How much do you know of the girl that ran him over? Is she mentally stable herself? Why didn’t she keep her Windows up and doors locked, and wait for police to arrive? After all, how much harm could someone do outside of a locked vehicle? It seems to me at that point she was the one with the upper hand.
Two wrongs do not make a right. And it sickens me that this article seems to justify what was done to this young man.

  2. Im so glad someone is putting real facts out. Thanks Ivory! please check your fact reporters,. This is alot of BS.

  3. She was never assaulted. She threatened to run him over and did, twice! She was operating a vehicle while intoxicated. She did NOT stop on her own. She was forced to by the victim’s father. She then got out of her car, while the victim was unconscious on the ground and spit on the victims mother! The fact that HE is listed as the suspect is deplorable. She needs to be in prison for DUI, Aggravated Assault and Attempted Murder. Why was she never arrested? Lake Orion P.D. needs to do a better job of collecting FACTS, not a psychotic woman’s lies.
