Not too late for inaugural golf outing

Next Monday, the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first fundraiser golf outing at Paint Creek Country Club.
The outing runs from noon to 10:00 p.m. and tickets are $150 per golfer. That includes 18 holes of golf at Orion’s only public course, a buffet lunch, two-hour open premium bar before a sit-down steak dinner.
Throughout the 18 holes, golfers will have the ability to purchase a help kit aimed at benefiting the fundraiser and their golf game. Inside the bag will be tickets for a mulligan or a free kick for those whose golf ball does get close enough to the hole.
“We wanted to have something new for our members to get involved with and I know there’s a lot of golf outings out there but we want to do something special and have another amenity that we offer,” OACC Board President Brian Birney said.
Birney, who spearheaded the event, understands this is a first-year event but hopes it’ll be a staple in the OACC’s offerings through out the year. He’s hoping it’ll encourage local entrepreneurs and businesses owners, who aren’t currently involved with the chamber, to become involved.
He says that beyond the golf outing the chamber is a one-stop shop for marketing and promotion of a business that can benefit a business on multiple fronts. They offer brand sponsorship on a wide array of events but also build strong camaraderie between members.
“You get what you put into it and you have to make it worth your while but when you go to things and participate is when you see the pay pack start to happen,” Birney said. “Then you become top of mind for people that will utilize your services and I don’t think you can put a price on that.”
Registration for the OACC golf outing can be done online at orionareachamber.com and clicking on the banner for the event. Paint Creek Country Club is located at 2375 Stanton Rd.
