No more shut-offs

The good news is Oxford Township residents who don’t pay their water bills won’t have to worry anymore about having their H20 shut off.
Last week, township officials voted 7-0 to inform the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner’s Office they want this practice stopped.
But these folks aren’t getting a free ride.
Those who don’t pay their water bills will see the delinquent amounts added to their winter property tax bill from the township.
Delinquent sewer bills are currently handled this way by the township.
The reason for the change, according to township Trustee Mike Spisz, is to help ‘commonize? the billing processes.
Right now, the township handles its sewer billing, while the county sends out the municipality’s water bills.
Changing the way in which delinquent water bills are handled is ‘actually a small part of a bigger thing,? Spisz explained.
‘We’re looking at combining the billing processes either at the county (level) or internally at the township, whichever becomes more efficient and cost effective,? he said. ‘Is it more effective for us to have the county do the sewer billing or is it more effective to have the township do the water billing??
