Several Lake Orion High School students attended a career camp recently at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
The twoweek camp hosted 30 high school students considering careers in biomedical sciences or bioengineering.
Medical School and Engineering School faculty members teamed up to create an instructional, handson experience in biomedical sciences and human anatomy for this unique summer experience.
Students participated in demonstrations and used technology to discover the multiple systems and processes of the human body.
Students also participated in interactive forums and labs to obtain a reallife preview of medicine and the health sciences.
Additionally, the faculty members answered questions about form and function, and discussed common diseases and illnesses, and widely used diagnoses with the program attendees so that they gained a full understanding of the medical field.
