On Thursday night, the Dragons got off to a hot start against the Berkley Bears, netting two goals in the first 5 minutes.
The first goal of the night was scored by Jacob Helzer on a nice shot that beat the Berkley goaltender high glove side.
Just moments later, captain Joe Briskey snuck behind the Bears defense and made a great backhand move to bury his 6th goal of the season, giving Lake Orion a 2-0 lead.
The Bears slowed down the Dragons speedy start, holding them scoreless for the next 25 minutes while scoring a goal of their own to split Lake Orion’s lead in half.
The Dragons held on, and Jacob Helzer added his second of the night to give LO a 3-1 victory.
Lake Orion’s goalie, Johnny Marshall, picked up his first start and first win of the season as the Dragons improved to 5-1.
Saturday night, the Dragons faced off against the Stoney Creek Cougars, another important OAA Red league game for the Dragons who were looking to move to 3-1 in league play.
Lake Orion struck early again off the stick of Gabe Potyk as he knocked home a rebound off the shot from Conner Graham.
Later in the first period, TJ Hirschfield extended his point streak to five games by ripping a shorthanded goal from the face-off dot to give Lake Orion a two goal lead.
In the second period Joe Briskey knocked home his team-leading seventh goal of the season and the Dragons jumped out to a commanding three goal advantage.
The remainder of the second period got very chippy as the Dragons found themselves down two skaters for four minutes.
Lake Orion successfully managed to kill off the numerous penalties, and Jacob Helzer scored the fourth goal of the night, very similar to his one Thursday, to solidify a 4-0 Dragons victory.
Senior goaltender Jack Barker was outstanding in his 21 save shutout as he turned away many quality Cougar scoring chances.
The Dragons are now 6-1 on the season and play Macomb Dakota and Utica Eisenhower this upcoming weekend before taking a couple weeks off for the holiday break.
