Library holds local author and illustrator fair

The Orion Township Public Library (OTPL) hosted its third annual Local Author and Illustrator Fair on Dec. 3.
More than 20 metro Detroit authors and illustrators gathered to share their works with readers of all ages.
Lake Orion’s own, authors R.L. Herron, Matt Faulkner and Kristen Remenar, who writes under the name Helen Wrath, were in attendance with their variety of works.
“We love our community and I love working in Lake Orion,” said Remenar, who is a Children’s Librarian at OTPL.
The Author and Illustrator Fair also featured Jonathan Rand, author of the popular young adult novels, American Chillers.
Rand signed books and posters and took photos with children and parents, alike.
OTPL also collected books for the Good Steward Initiative, a program that helps to alleviate the growing book famine in developing countries.
Good Steward is an all-volunteer program that works to provide children and adults with reading materials by collecting books and sending them to Africa to create libraries.
