Three full-time firefighters was successful. According to Ruthanne Okun, director of the Michigan’s Bureau of Employment Relations,the ballots were counted this morning (Feb. 27) and it was 2-0 in favorof being represented by the Southfield-based Michigan Association of Fire Fighters (MAFF).
A third ballot was returned to thestate, however, it came in past thedeadline, so it wasn’t counted. In the Jan. 23 issue of the Leader, Joel Felt, staff organizerwith the MAFF, said if the vote wasaffirmative, then ‘we sit down andbargain a labor agreement with thetownship.’The union will representfirefighters/paradmedics Marilyn Szost, John Beach andJoshua Wade.
