Apparently, there are two things the Devil has no power over ? people’s kindness and vinyl siding.
Last week, the Leader reported how someone vandalized the Pathway Baptist Church (1285 W. Drahner Rd.) in Oxford Township by painting Satanic symbols on it.
When Pastor Wayne Bennett arrived on the morning of Good Friday, he discovered the number 666 emblazoned in red on his little white church along with a red pentacle.
Fortunately, these symbols were removed thanks to free labor from Turnbull Construction, a local company, and free materials from Square Deal Building Supply in Almont.
According to Bennett, Rob Turnbull, the construction company’s owner, was driving by the church on Good Friday when he saw the damage. He stopped in and offered to fix it for free.
When Turnbull told Square Deal Building Supply about the situation, they donated some new vinyl siding to replace the vandalized area.
‘It shows me there are more good people out there than we realize,? Bennett said. ‘There are people who are willing to help without being asked.?
The vandalism remains under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff and was reported to the FBI as a potential hate crime.
