Bicyclist killed crossing M-24

A 50-year-old Oxford Township man was killed Saturday while attempting to cross M-24 on a bicycle around 7:20 p.m.
Dale Robert Jasmund was riding his bicycle in the roadway near M-24 and Teelin Drive when he attempted to cross the southbound lanes and was struck by at least two different oncoming vehicles.
Jasmund was transported by the Oxford Fire Department to POH Medical Center in Pontiac where he was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m.
The first vehicle that struck him was a 2006 Jeep driven by a 25-year-old Oxford woman. The second was a 1995 Toyota driven by a 23-year-old Lake Orion man.
It appears alcohol was a factor in the fatal crash on the part of the victim, not the drivers.
‘They were both cleared of any alcohol use,? said Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy Harry Joseph, of the Crash Reconstruction Unit.
The crash remains under investigation, but it doesn’t appear the drivers will face any charges.
‘There’s a lot of investigation to still be completed, but I don’t anticipate any charges of any kind,? Joseph said.
