Cross country runners Taylor Dewey and Megan Seeley have a lot to be proud of after competing in the Flint Metro League Championship in Lapeer Oct. 25.
Dewey placed 4th with a time of 20:58 and was named first team all-league.
‘Taylor had an exceptional run,? said Coach Ray Sutherland. ‘We were hoping she’d be in the top 14 and here she was in the top 5.?
‘Two weeks before when she raced Linden, seven of their girls had beat Taylor,? Sutherland noted. ‘At this meet, none of the girls beat her. That’s how much better she ran.?
Seeley placed 8th with a time of 21:07 and made second team all-league.
‘She just missed by two-hundredths of a second being first team all-league,? Sutherland said. Overall, the girls placed 5th at the meet and in the league.
The boys team had no all-league medal winners. ‘None of the boys placed, but we had some pretty good performances,? Sutherland said.
Adam Heskitt was 16th at 17:28, Erik Joergens came in 17th at 17:40 (a personal best), and Ben Cole was 18th at 17:42.
The fellas placed 4th at the meet and tied for 4th in the league.
