Congratulations to Susan Reynolds!
The 13-year-old Oxford resident was the grand prize winner in a drawing held as part of the Oxford Public Library’s Teen Summer Reading Program.
She won a $100 U.S. Savings Bond generously donated by Oxford Bank.
Fifty-six of the 79 teens (or 71 percent) who signed up for the summer reading program completed at least one reading-related activity or task, according to Charli Osborn, head of teen services.
Participating teens completed a total of 1,224 activites such as reading to someone for a half-hour, writing a book review, reading a magazine cover-to-cover or attending a teen program at the library.
In order to be eligible for the grand prize drawing, a teen had to complete at least 25 reading tasks, something which 19 participants accomplished, according to Osborne.
Reynolds, an eighth-grader at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, said she completed about 50 tasks. Very impressive.
Good job to all the teens involved in the summer reading program. Remember today’s readers are tomorrow’s leaders.
